Role of High Risk HPV DNA Test in Follow-up of Treated CIN in Bangladesh

چکیده
In Bangladesh, the incidence of cervical cancer is about 17,686 and around 10,364 women die from cervical cancer each year (Ferlay et al., 2008). Hospital based data revealed that cervical cancer constitutes 22-29% of the female cancer in Bangladesh (Akhter et al., 1998). Therefore screening and education intereventions are necessary (Nessa et al., 2013a; 2013b). Cervical cancer is a slowly progressing tumour and its natural history is reasonably well understood. Diagnosis and treatment of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) through population-based screening programs has lead to 50-80% reduction in deaths from cervical cancer in various developed countries (IARC, 2004). Bangladesh has a comprehensive health infrastructure which offers the feasibility of introducing screening programmes. The government of Bangladesh is developing a nationwide cervical cancer screening programme through a less

Human Papillomavirus Infection after Treatment for High-grade Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia
Cervical carcinoma is a leading cause of mortality from cancer among women worldwide. Oncogenic types of human papillomavirus (HPV) are recognised as causative agents of cervical cancer and its precursor, cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN). It was shown that successful treatment of CIN results in clearance of HPV infection and treatment failure is accompanied by the detection of viral per...
متن کاملCharacterization of p16 and E6 HPV-related proteins in uterine cervix high-grade lesions of patients treated by conization with large loop excision
Cervical cancer and its precursor lesions represent a significant public health problem for developing and less-developed countries. Cervical carcinogenesis is strongly correlated with persistent high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, which is mostly associated with expression of the p16 and E6 HPV-related proteins. The aim of this present study was to determine the expression of the p...

Background: Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer of the women worldwide. It is also an important cause of cancer-related mortality in women, after breast cancer. Nearly half million of new cases are identified yearly. The incidence rate in developing countries is greater than the developed countries. Epidemiologic studies have shown that the association of genital human papillom...
متن کاملHigh-risk human papillomavirus E6/E7 mRNA and L1 DNA as markers of residual/recurrent cervical intraepithelial neoplasia.
The aim of this study was to assess the use of human papillomavirus (HPV) E6/E7 mRNA testing in the follow-up of women treated for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) by conization and to compare the prognostic value of HPV E6/E7 mRNA to HPV L1 DNA and cytology. One hundred and forty-three women underwent cytological/histological testing, HPV...
متن کاملDetection and estimation of human papillomavirus viral load in patients with cervical lesions.
Human papillomavirus (HPV) high risk genotype infection and HPV viral load influences the development of invasive cervical cancer and cervical intra-epithelial neoplasia (CIN). HPV DNA testing for screening of cervical cancers may play a potential role in its early detection and management. The present study detected HPV DNA and estimated HPV viral load in different types of cervical lesions am...
